Geely’s Zeekr EV (ZE: Stands for Zero, the starting point of infinite possibilities, E: Stands for Evolving the Electric Era, KR: Stands for Krypton, a rare gas that emits light when electrified) is a Chinese brand that makes special electric cars.

It started in 2021 and is owned by Geely Automobile Holdings. Zeekr’s cars are built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), which focuses on electric vehicles.

In October 2021, Geely’s Zeekr EV began selling its first model, the 001. Originally, this car was supposed to be sold by Lynk & Co, another brand owned by the same company. By 2022, Geely’s Zeekr EV had sold 71,941 001 vehicles to customers in more than 330 cities across China.

In August 2022, Zeekr said it would work with CATL to use their long-range batteries in their cars. The Zeekr 001 will be the first to use these batteries, letting them go over 1000 km on a single charge.

In August 2021, Geely’s Zeekr EV got $500 million in its first fundraising round from five investors, including Intel Capital, CATL, and Bilibili. By February 13, 2023, Zeekr was worth $13 billion after getting $750 million from five investors.

The name Zeekr comes from “Generation Z” and “geek.”
